Updates about the current conflict between Israel and Gaza - Day 11

The last 24 hours, the fights are still going on. More than 4400 rockets were fired at Israel by Hamas from Gaza, 1500 of them were intercepted by Iron Dome with 92% success rate, most of the rest fell into open spaces or into Gaza itself, and some of them (only few, thanks God) hit Israel. Both Israel and Hamas are saying that a ceasefire might start tomorrow (Friday) during the day. From past experience, this is the most dangerous time since Hamas will be looking for a "victory shot" to say that they are winning. In the past, they even fired after the ceasefire started, just to get the last shot.

24 hours of Day 11 to the fighting.

Few updates about what is going on towards the end of day 11 of this conflict:

Arab woman receives life-saving kidney from Jewish Israeli killed in Lod riots

A 58-year-old Arab Christian woman got a new lease on life this week when she received a kidney transplant from 56-year-old Yigal Yehoshua, who died on Monday six days after being hit in the head with a brick during the Lod riots.

The transplant was conducted at Hadassah-University Hospital in Ein Kerem, where Randa Aweis of Jerusalem’s Talpiot neighborhood had been undergoing treatment for kidney disease for nine years. The hospital said the transplant, which was overseen by Hadassah’s Dr. Ashram Imam and Dr. Abed Halaila, was urgent.

On Wednesday, Aweis spoke to Yehoshua’s wife and thanked her for the “noble deed.”

“We are like family now,” Aweis, a mother of six, said.

Rockets fired into northern Israel from Lebanon amid fighting in Gaza

Four rockets were fired from Southern Lebanon toward Israel on Wednesday, catching thousands of Israelis by surprise as Hamas continued to fire at the South.

For the first time since the Second Lebanon War in 2006, rocket-warning sirens blared in the Lower Galilee, as well as Haifa’s bayside suburbs of Kiryat Bialik and Kiryat Motzkin, at around 4 p.m.

TAU dorm vandalized with bloody handprints, 'Palestinian Lives Matter'

A Tel Aviv University dorm room was vandalized this week, with someone covering the dorm room door with blood-red handprints and a bold PLM, standing for Palestinian Lives Matter, The Jerusalem Post has learned.

The vandalism took place in the Broshim dormitory on the door belonging to a Jewish student. However, by Wednesday afternoon, the door was scrubbed clean, though traces of red paint remain, according to Kyle Desrosiers, an intern with TAU Madrichim.

“Who knew a person coming to Israel to escape antisemitism would still find themselves in the thick of it.”
